The Norwex laundry detergent is seriouly fantastic. Things to know about it:
- Safe for High Efficiency machines (please follow your machine's warranty, though)
- Low-sudsing, scent-free, biodegradable and it washes 60-70 loads (or 120-140 loads if used with the Magnetball).
- Superior stain removing powder, whitens whites, brightens colors and cuts grease and grime on clothes.
- Has optical brighteners and color enhancers.
- Contains no fillers or perfumes, so is safe for newborns and people with sensitive skin or eczema.
- Excellent stain remover when mixed as a paste and/or a spray-on solution
NOTE: No fillers mean less wear, fading and pilling of clothes. There is no residue left on the clothes so clothes will not attract dirt as quickly. It decreases clogs in the machine’s drains, too.
I have had many requests for the complete ingredient list for the Norwex Laudry Soap. Norwex Head Office does not provide a complete list of the ingredients, however the following information is provided from the Norwex Product handbook:
"Please note that this product does contain a small amount of
phosphate - approximately 3%, it also contains between 1-5% sodium
metasilicate pentahydrate and some sodium laureth sulphate. It does
NOT contain chlorine, trisodium nitriloacetate (NTA), ethoxylated
nonylphenol, 2-butoxyethanol, borax, enzymes, toluene, or its
derivatives, or oils of any kind."
The reason for using a small amount of phosphate: The (store-brand) phosphate-free laundry soap has a new synthetic
replacement for the phosphate and it has not been studied for it's long
term environmental effect. Norwex says that when adequate studies have
been done on this chemical they will consider a switch, but until then
they will stick with a very small amount of phosphate, whose effect is
well understood.
How to use
- Regular machine: 2 TBSP (one scoop)
- HE machine: 1/2 TSP - please follow your machine's warranty - some state that certain detergents ONLY are to be used
